About Airedales Von-Pape
We are not your average kennel. I do not breed on a regular basis and tend to only breed to keep good dogs in my kennel ready to work or have on occasion studded my dogs out to people I know work their dogs. I do not breed for money. All of our dogs are thoroughly hunt tested before ever given the chance to be bred, both my males and females. I take them out to ensure they prove themselves on various game. If an airedale does not prove itself to be a versatile working dog, it will not stay here.
The Airedales I breed are AKC registered and are from working lines. I would rather breed a solid working dog than a show champion any day. That said, I do enjoy a good looking Airedale and breed away from faults! I also DNA health test all potential breeders to ensure only healthy representations are bred. Pups will receive a health check by a veterinarian prior to leaving. I hope to ensure I continue to have hunting Airedales in my kennel for generations to come, hopefully for the betterment of the breed, and to make working Airedales available to others.
Airedales aren't the only dogs I keep, I also keep other breeds that work well for me. Most are specialized breeds such as staghounds and patterdale terriers and some like jagdterriers which are more versatile. I require the Airedales to be versatile and able to work various game effectively. The great thing about Airedales is they are not only versatile hunters but excellent family dogs and great with kids. They have a clownish personality and an off switch many working dogs lack. They require a fair amount of exercise and are always ready to go when time, but can just as easily chill in the house. Because of this ability combined with their intelligence, I have had a couple trained as service dogs as well.
I use my airedales for hunting various types of game: Wild hogs, raccoons, coyotes, upland birds, waterfowl, and blood tracking. Some come from lines that have also been used to hunt mountain lions and bears. I hunt the dogs both as a part of my recreation time and as part of my professional career as a wildlife control operator managing nuisance wildlife. Check the pups available tab for available pups.
